DAILY, I AM REMINDED OF THE PROGRESS WE MADE THIS SEASON

Following our final game of the season against Tolmin, an exciting 3-3 draw, it seems like a good time to review and reflect on how the season played out.

Despite the obvious progress we made this season, we are all collectively disappointed to have missed out on our ultimate objective to achieve promotion to the first league.

Most importantly, I want to thank the players for their effort and dedication this season. We will make changes in the summer and football can be a cut throat business. But when we are dealing with friends, family and human beings, it is never easy to make changes and move forward.

More importantly, I want to take the chance to thank the people that give everything to our football Club.

Firstly to our investors, those that believe in the vision of the Club, especially to those that visited Sezana and saw first hand, that we are a living, breathing football Club with big hearts and big ambitions for the future. To our mayor, Andrej Sila, who gave nothing but unwavering support to our Club.

To our key staff, Tina Paliska, Lana Metlika, Sašo Bole, Matej Bombač, Igor Bole, Klemen Kariz, Bojan Kariž, Tim Küssel, secretaries Erik, Ida and Dejan, Saša Gulič, and of course Nace Kosmač, Radostin Aleksandrov, and above all Davor Škerjanc, our President that holds the club together. I have the utmost admiration for you all and all I can say is “thank you”.

Individually and collectively, we all feel that we fell short of the expectations we set for ourselves this season. But daily, I am reminded of the progress we made this season. A year ago, we were relegated to the 3rd league. This season, we fought to promote to the 1st league. We went on an incredible run of 17 games unbeaten, but we all know that points win prizes. It’s an indication of the standards we set for ourselves that this season feels like a disappointment.

To our fans, I ask you to come again next season. I will be better. We will be better. We won’t make any excuses for the season behind us. We will go one step further. It’s the least we owe you.

Congratulations to our rivals in Aluminij, and all the best of luck in your journey back in the first league. Thank you to Triglav and Gorica who made the challenge a tough one this season, but I have the utmost respect for those Clubs and how they conducted themselves. If we meet again next season, we welcome you with our incredible wine.

People are excited again about sport and football in Slovenia. We have a lot of areas to improve. There are many deficits. But, embrace it. Enjoy the journey. We are here for the long term.
