The year 2024, now drawing to a close, will go down in the history of football club Tabor Sežana as a year of extraordinary transformation. A period of uncertainty for the club was replaced by an era filled with countless opportunities. On the competitive front, we witnessed the epic rise of the senior team, which climbed from last place on the league table with an 8-point deficit in January 2024 to secure survival in the league and then rise to the very top of the 2nd Slovenian Football League. As the calendar year ends, the team sits just one point away from the promotion spots to the 1st Slovenian Football League at the midway point of the season. Under the leadership of Radostin Aleksandrov and Nace Kosmač, supported by sporting director Lyndon Tomlinson, the senior team’s management has successfully built one of the youngest squads in the league, which is, despite its youth, capable of achieving great competitive results.
From an infrastructural point of view, 2024 brought significant advancements for the club as well. Key achievements include the expansion and enhancement of the main stadium’s pitch and, most notably, the much-anticipated start of renovations of the training pitch. In the beginning of 2025, this project is expected to deliver a state-of-the-art artificial turf field which will provide optimal conditions for the club’s academy training process. Alongside these improved working conditions, the club is also committed to raising the level of organization, professionalism, and dedication in working with our youngest players, who represent the bright future of our sport.
Undoubtedly, however, the most significant developments for the club in 2024 happened far from the public eye. At the beginning of the year, the club became richer for the experience and acquaintances of an expert advisor Gino Cevasco, where the most significant action was taken in April, where the club’s assembly approved four new members for the board of directors. Along with a longtime player and captain of the first team of the club Erik Salkić, membership in the board of directors was entrusted to Lyndon Tomlinson, William Richardson and Michael Gorman. This marked the opening of the door to the launch of the “Tabor United” project, which places Tabor Sežana firmly on the international stage, under the guidance of sporting director Lyndon Tomlinson and the global community of investors, co-owners, and business partners united by a common goal - to bring the club back to the 1st Slovenian Football League and beyond. Project Tabor United blurs the boundaries of the local environment as it unites a global community of investors and owners from different parts of the world and from different backgrounds, united through their passion for football. Through this project we will have a privilege to share the affection for our beloved club with some extraordinary people from the world of sports, arts, technology, innovation, finances, business, etc.. and we will get a chance to get to know many of them trough owner’s profile presentations on our media channels and matchday visits in person from our most engaged global “brothers and sisters”. At the end of the day, as the verse from the anthem of our club says: "We are all ONE, brother for brother."
At the end of the old year I would like to say thank you, in the name of the club, to all of you who have supported the club in any way in the past period and I wish you all good health, happiness and great mutual success in the year 2025.
Faithfully yours - Davor Škerjanc, president of football club Tabor Sežana.
